Another delay in Central Falls

September 6, 2011

As Central Falls High School attempts to begin the second year of a high profile turnaround effort, the first day of school has been delayed yet again.

School officials had to push back the start of the school year for the entire district because of power outages following Tropical Storm Irene. Classes were set to begin right after Labor Day, until the power went out a second time in the early morning hours.

Central Falls Superintendent Fran Gallo says school began as scheduled this morning at district elementary schools. If all goes well, classes will begin at Central Falls middle and high schools on Wednesday.
