Yale still (slightly) more selective than Brown

April 4, 2011

It was harder to get into Yale University than Brown University this year. Yale admitted 2,000 people to the class of 2015 out of 27,300 who applied. That’s a 7.3 percent acceptance rate, compared with Brown’s 8.7 percent acceptance rate announced last week.

But Brown may be catching up with Yale when it comes to selectivity. Brown’s acceptance rate dropped to 9.3 percent last year and fell below 9 percent this year for the first time ever. Yale’s acceptance barely budged this year when compared with last year.
