Brown’s class of 2015

March 31, 2011

Brown university has sent acceptance letters to 2,692 students, or 8.7 percent of the nearly 31,000 who applied to the class of 2015. Brown officials say it was the largest applicant pool in the school’s history.

If you were applying from high school in Rhode Island, you had a significantly better chance of getting in. 74 out of 394 local applicants, or nearly 19% were admitted.

Admits for the class of 2015 include students from all 50 states, though the largest groups are from California (393), New York (322) and Massachusetts (216). 79 foreign countries are also represented, including 57 students from China and 34 students from India.

Nearly two-thirds of admitted students applied for financial aid and 17% will be the first in their family to go to college.

Admitted students have until May 1 to accept, and Brown expects an incoming class of about 1,485 students for the fall of 2011.
