More top graduates could improve US schools

So say gobal management consultants McKinsey & Company in this report, which looks at how the US can attract more top tier graduates to the teaching field.

Singapore, Finland, and South Korea recruit 100 percent of their teachers from the top third of the academic pool, but in the US that number is closer to 23 percent, the authors write.

Top barriers to recruiting high level graduates include low pay and a lack of prestige, according to the report.
