Should Obama come to Central Falls High School?

September 14, 2010

A Washington Post blogger thinks President Obama picked the wrong location for his annual “back to school” speech. The president addressed middle and high school students in Pennsylvania Tuesday, telling them hard work and a focus on education would allow them to achieve their dreams.

Education writer Valerie Strauss says the president should not have given the speech at Julia Masterman Middle and High School, where students are hand-picked by academic ability. She suggests Central Falls High School would have a better choice.

Why not give the speech at a school that was forced to restructure as a result of his policies, or where his motivational speech would be heard live by kids who rarely hear such talk?
