Scientists challenge conventional wisdom on study habits

Changing locations while you study increases retention, and varying the type of material studied in one sitting seems to help students learn more, according to some cognitive scientists. Testing may also be an effective way to help students cement learning. The New York Times has this round-up of the latest research.
