Actor James Franco headed to RISD

August 4, 2010

Actor James Franco will be spending some time in Rhode Island starting next month. RISD officials say the A-Lister was accepted to their digital media program. Franco’s manager says he plans to attend.

Franco played bad-boy heartthrob Daniel Desario in the short-lived but critically acclaimed television series Freaks and Geeks. He is also known for the role of Harry Osborn in the Spider-Man movie franchise and comedies like Pineapple Express.

Franco is also rumored to have accepted a slot at Yale University as a PhD candidate in English. His manager could not confirm whether the actor and University of California Los Angeles grad plans to attend both schools at once.

Earlier this year Franco was working on simultaneous master’s degrees in filmmaking at NYU, fiction writing at Columbia University and Brooklyn College, and poetry at Warren Wilson College in North Carolina, explains this profile in New York Magazine. Franco recently had his first solo art show at the Clocktower Gallery in New York.
