Students cleared in URI rape case

July 29, 2010

After less than two hours of deliberation, a jury has cleared two University of Rhode Island students of sexual assault. Read the Providence Journal’s coverage of the trial here.

The case stemmed from a 2008 incident in which a female student claimed she was forced to have sex at a party.

Attorneys for the defendants presented testimony that suggested the alleged victim was enjoying the party, which took place at a URI dorm.

A third defendant in the case will be tried separately.
