Central Falls teacher charged with giving alcohol to students

February 3, 2012

State police have accused a Central Falls High School teacher of buying alcohol for her students. The teacher is Emma Wise, a 22-year-old Chemistry teacher in her first year at Central Falls High School.

State police say Wise drove teenagers to a liquor store in Pawtucket and bought them alcohol. She then took the students to a park where she allegedly drank the alcohol with them.

Wise has pleaded not guilty to the charges and was released on bail. She’s scheduled for a pre-trial hearing on March 2nd.

Central Falls school officials say they placed Wise on administrative administrative after they learned of the problem, and she has since resigned from the school district.

“Our staff and school community are disheartened by this situation,” Superintendent Fran Gallo said in a statement. She also praised students “who came forward and cooperated with police so that the matter could be investigated and resolved appropriately.”
