Chariho school official faces charges in car crash
Police have charged Chariho School Committee member Terri Serra with a misdemeanor under the state’s social host law. They allege that four teenagers injured in a weekend car crash were consuming alcohol on her Charlestown property prior to the accident.
According to Channel 10, Serra turned herself in to police last night and is home on bail. She claims that she fell asleep and found teenagers partying and drinking alcohol in a trailor on her property.
Police say they are still investigating whether Serra knew about the party and whether she broke the law by allowing the teenagers to drive after they had consumed alcohol.
Some members of the Chariho School Committee have called for Serra to resign.
