Schilling on living with Autism
April 5, 2011
Shonda Schilling, the wife of former Red Sox pitcher Kurt Schilling speaks tonight at the Meeting Street School about being the parent of a child with Asperger’s Syndrome, a high functioning form of Autism.
Schilling has written a personal account of her experiences, which event organizers say has struck a chord with many parents of autistic children. More than 200 people have already signed up to attend the talk marking the start of Autism Awareness Month.
Roughly 1 out of every 110 children born in the United States today will be affected by some form of Autism, according to the Federal Centers for Disease Control.
